1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that the websites you visit save on your device (computer,
tablet, smartphone) to store useful information for their operation (e.g. keeping the login
session) or for additional purposes (e.g. statistics, profiling, marketing). Similar
technologies — such as localStorage, sessionStorage and
identifiers stored in browser storage — are treated, for the purposes of this policy, as
equivalent to cookies.
Cookies are mainly distinguished into:
- Technical cookies: strictly necessary for the operation of the site or to deliver a service expressly requested by the user (Art. 122 Italian Privacy Code). They do not require consent.
- Non-technical cookies (non-anonymized third-party analytics, profiling, behavioural marketing): they require prior consent from the user.
2. Cookies used by this site
This site uses only technical cookies. We do not use profiling cookies, we do not use third-party analytics tools, we do not use marketing pixels, and we do not share identifiers with advertising platforms.
For this reason no cookie consent banner is shown: the law requires it only when cookies other than technical ones are installed. We nevertheless provide, in full transparency, an indicative list of the cookies and tools used.
2.1. Session and authentication cookies (Clerk)
Authentication is handled through Clerk, Inc. Clerk sets technical cookies strictly necessary to keep the login session, prevent CSRF attacks and ensure authentication security. The exact names may vary based on the provider's updates:
| Cookie name | Subject | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__session | Clerk | Authenticated user session token | Session / until logout |
__client_uat | Clerk | Last access timestamp, used to sync authentication state | Persistent (≈ 1 year) |
__clerk_db_jwt | Clerk | Session JWT for authenticated APIs | Short-lived, automatically refreshed |
__refresh_* | Clerk | Session refresh token | Persistent (duration set by Clerk) |
Provider documentation: clerk.com/docs.
2.2. Application technical cookies
The site may additionally use cookies or localStorage entries strictly technical
to:
| Name / key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
theme or similar | Store light/dark theme preference | Persistent |
locale or similar | Store the selected language | Persistent |
| CSRF token | Cross-Site Request Forgery protection | Session |
All cookies listed in sections 2.1 and 2.2 are technical cookies under Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code: their installation does not require consent.
3. Why there is no banner
In line with the Italian DPA Guidelines of 10 June 2021:
- for technical cookies only an information notice is sufficient, without requiring consent and without a banner;
- "cookie walls" (conditioning access to the site on consent) are not allowed;
- "consent by scrolling" or user inactivity as a form of acceptance is not allowed;
- closing the banner via the "X" is not equivalent to refusal.
Since this site has no cookies other than technical ones, the conditions to request consent do not apply.
4. Managing cookies from your browser
Although the cookies used are only technical, you can manage them at any time and, if you prefer, delete or block them directly from your browser settings. Disabling technical cookies may impair the functioning of the site, in particular the ability to keep the login session.

- Apple Safari: support.apple.com/safari
- Microsoft Edge: support.microsoft.com/edge
5. Extra-EU transfers
Use of the Clerk provider entails that some session information is processed in the United States. For the safeguards applicable to extra-EU transfers refer to section 8 of the Privacy Policy.
6. Changes
If we introduce in the future tools that require consent (e.g. third-party analytics), this Cookie Policy will be updated and a consent banner compliant with the Italian DPA Guidelines will be activated before they actually go live.
